For assignment 4, I chose to examine the work of Daniel Lorenzetti, an American photographer who primarily photographs different cultures. He is also a journalist, and has written and taken photos for several publications, including the New York Times and the Miami Herald. His main project is The Image Expedition where he and his wife, Linda Rice Lorenzetti, travel around the world to document different ways of life. Their main goal is to share culture with the world while being unobtrusive, and preserving those cultures in a respectful way.

Much of Lorenzetti’s work is shot in black and white, allowing the viewer to appreciate the minute details of his subjects, but he has shot several projects in color, showing the vibrancy of the cultures he is showcasing. In examining Lorenzetti’s work I have learned just how much color can affect a photo, and how shooting in black and white can sometimes be more impactful than showing the full color of a subject.
